Rush Soccer Select Program’s marquee and first-of-its-kind event, the HUB, was a monumental success last week in St. Louis!
In the face of the various logistical and competitive challenges that 2020 presented youth soccer players, clubs and coaches across the country, Rush Soccer launched and hosted its first ever national HUB with the nation’s most elite players competing in one place. With top coaches, scouts and collegiate programs viewing the event and competition, Rush Soccer’s elite Select Program featured elite 2006, 2007 and 2008 boys and girls players representing the Northeast, South, Midwest and West regions from November 19-22.
“There is so much to be proud of for every single player, coach and staff member involved in this year’s groundbreaking Rush Soccer Select HUB event” said Rush Soccer’s Select Program Director, Justin Miller. “These players faced and rose above every challenge throughout this year and showed why their coaches and Technical Directors nominated to be a part of the elite Rush Soccer Select teams. We are so excited to see what the future holds for these players and coaches, and know this is an event they will never forget.”
Through it all each age groups’ winning teams included:
- 2008 Boys: SOUTH
- 2008 Girls: NORTHEAST
- 2007 Boys: MIDWEST
- 2007 Girls: WEST
- 2006 Boys: SOUTH
- 2006 Girls: WEST
In each age group and gender bracket, each regional team played each other over four days, with the top two regions facing off on Championship Sunday. Coaches and players developed and competed with an emphasis on the Rush Way, featuring the fundamental Rush Core Values and an understanding of exactly what it means to be a part of the largest youth soccer organization in the world.
Players participating at the Rush Soccer Select Hub were evaluated by the national Rush Soccer staff and now have the opportunity to be identified for higher level playing opportunities.
With a new format and timing, the 2020 Rush Select Hub was this year’s only opportunity for Rush’s most elite players to experience a competition that has produced current professional alumni like Lindsey Horan (USWNT, Portland Thorns, Colorado Rush), Cole Bassett (USMNT U20, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Rush), Shandon Hopeau (Seattle Sounders, Hawai’i Rush), and Paolo Del Piccolo (Louisville City FC, Colorado Rush).
